another pleasant valley sunday

We are in the midst of one of the most perfect weekends. The sun is shining and the temperature is well above 70 degrees. Truly a record here in the Northwoods of Wisconsin.

And where am I? Inside, at my computer. Why? Why am I sitting inside rather that taking advantage of nice day to do some much needed work outside in my garden?

Well, I was outside. It was beautiful. Goober and Sam were helping me weed and cultivate my herb bed in preparation for this year's planting. I was manning the tiller, happily cultivating the soil and breaking up stubborn weeds.

Then my tiller blades got stuck. So I shut it off and reached around to disentangle the blads when my hand accidentally struck the muffler.

I managed not to swear in front of the kidlets, but it was close. Holy mother did I do a number. Now my left hand is slathered in burn cream and wrapped in gauze, thanks to a very gentle Dr. Nature Boy.

And now I've been grounded. No gardening for this girl. Dammit.

As an added bonus, I get to be on nap patrol. The Ubergoober is sleeping better. We had a baby smackdown here and removed all of his "bedtime buddies" as well as his big-boy bed from his room. We told him that if he could stay in bed and get some sleep, he could have his stuff back. Until then, Mommy and Daddy would put it away. If he continued to misbehave, we would throw it away. Gone. Never to be seen again. Fortunately, the threat worked and we've had one solid night of sleep and two pretty decent naps.

Ouch... typing hurts. Back to baking cookies. (The only Nature Boy-authorized activity today.)
