So I must be the last person in the world to discover the joys and wonders of YouTube, right? Seriously, I have been on it almost every night, pulling up music videos and interview clips and recordings of live performances. I've even got the kids addicted, especially the Ubergoober who has recently discovered the joys of Schoolhouse Rock. His favorite?
Yes.. it's a classic. He also likes "Conjunction Junction" and "Interplanet Janet" but the guy getting a shot in the rear makes him giggle every time. It's kind of nostalgic for Nature Boy and me, too, because these were on between cartoons on Saturday mornings when we were kids. We both remember watching them and, when it came time for schoolwork, singing the songs to help us remember the answers on tests.
He also likes listening to the songs we sing him every night at bedtime. He's a huge fan of vocal jazz, especially from the 1940's, and wants to hear P.S. I Love You almost every night. But his favorite is the one Nature Boy sings him.
It's our song, Nature Boy's and mine, and every time I hear it I get a little misty. My friend Jim introduced me to it, and the first time he sang it for me I melted. It's beautiful. Everything that love should be.
(We joke that is especially apropros for Nature Boy because of the line "... I'm losing my hair," but that's incidental.)
So, enjoy these few videos. It's what's playing in our house right now. What about you? What's your favorite YouTube distraction? Music? Or do you go for the comedies? Maybe the interviews?

Mostly we only go to YouTube to find something we're looking for but not often. We use it as a tool, not a distraction. (We're so boring.) But when i discovered Regina Spektor (yes, I discovered her) we'd go there and my daughter and I'd watch her videos.
SchoolHouse Rock ROCKS! Timeless.
My favorite youtube distraction has been comic videos - Flight of the Conchords, political stuff, etc. It's wonderful when I need a good laugh!
