I cut the boys' hair last night and, in keeping with the messing of the seasons, Nature Boy had me shave his head. Which meant a fairly drastic haircut since it had been a while since I'd cut his hair. Goober, like always, just got a trim, although I did mess his bangs up a little and ended up cutting them a little shorter than I had planned.
When Goober got home from school, Nature Boy asked him if anyone had mentioned his haircut.
"No. Why would they?" Goober asked.
Nature Boy shrugged.
"Did anyone mention your haircut?" I asked.
"No," Nature Boy answered.
Which brings me to something I just don't understand. A woman gets her haircut and every other woman notices. Even a half-inch trim. We can just tell. If the haircut is drastic enough, men might notice, too. You can't walk down the office halll after a haircut without people stopping you and saying, "Did you just get your hair cut?"
But guys? Not a chance. They don't ever seem to notice each other's hair. Not even when a guy goes from having almost an inch of hair to, well, none.
I suppose I really shouldn't be suprised, but it's just one of those disparities between the sexes.
As for my hair, the growing out is going nicely and it's almost down to my shoulders. Yay!

I always tease my husband that if a man indicates in any way that he's noticed anything about another man's appearance, then everyone automatically think's he's gay.
Wow, it's really growing in!
I often walk in the office and ask my male colleague "ha, went to the hairdresser yesterday?". Yep, we do notice.
as for women noticing: only if it's above the shoulders. If your hair is really really long and having different lengths somewhere on your back, nobody notices anymore. I remember a 10 inch cut that nobody had noticed in high school although it had been a huge deal to me!
I cut my son's hair recently. It looked awful! So maybe I'm glad no one notices a haircut on boys :)
